Some cruel commentators remark that even some students who’ve been at Keele for three years still don’t know how to find it, as the campus is a 600 acre country estate on an exposed hilltop in rural Staffordshire. Its location means that it is entirely self sufficient, and most students prefer to socialise within campus rather than venturing out into the nearby Stoke. The university is particularly well-regarded for its dual honours degrees, which most students study. The exceptions are professional degrees, such as law and health, probably because they require more of your attention.
Keele LGBT society say their full name is Keele LGBTTQIUACQUPO (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, twin-spirited, queer, intersex, unlabelled, asexual, curious, questioning, unsure, pansexual, omnisexual)… let’s hope that doesn’t catch on. They run weekly socials and aim to provide support to members. Be warned, however, if you’re a scene queen/king this might not be the best choice for you, as there isn’t much of a local gay scene and, as with all isolated campus unis, the community could start to feel a bit claustrophobic.
