I am immensely proud that Google is sponsoring the Stonewall University Guide 2012.  Google has a long history of supporting individuals from the lesbian, gay and bisexual community - both in our own internal Gaygler community and outside the company through initiatives such as the It Gets Better project on which we are partnering with Stonewall.

I am delighted that Stonewall has produced this guide to help you make informed choices about which university to study at.  Attending university is one of the most exciting times in anyone’s life; a time that lays the foundations for your future career, where lifelong friends are made and where you can expect to work hard and have a lot of fun!  In making such an important decision as which university to attend it is critical to have as much information as possible – this guide provides a wealth of valuable data for LGB students that will help you make the right choice for you.

I am really pleased that this year the guide includes a new section which looks at careers.  In this section you can find out about what it is like to work in different industries including computer science and hear from LGB graduates who are working at Google about their experiences of moving from education to the world of work.

As you enter this thrilling next phase of your life I would like to wish you every success in your degree – whichever university you choose to attend.

Very best regards
